Hi, my name is Jerry McEwen, and I'm the junior member of the Team.  Although I was born in DC, I grew up in Northern Indiana.  We (wife Carol, daughter Jinx, and I) moved to Arlington after my post-doctoral research fellowship with NASA in 1976, and have lived here since then.

 

I’ve been a Realtor^® since June, 2004.  I started out as a "dual professional,"  also being the Vice President - Science for a large trade association (which I had joined in 1980).  Then in 2006, after 25 years, I retired from the trade association to embark on a full-time real estate career.  Since then, I've received the "Top Producer" award from the Northern Virginia Association of Realtors every year.  This is the highest sales designation awarded by the NVAR. 

My desire to become a Realtor^® came from watching Carol and Jinx work with clients for many years.  They have been able to help so many people reach their real estate goals, and the people were always so appreciative, that I wanted to try my hand at helping as well.  Besides, after so many years of discussing real estate around the dinner table, it seemed natural to take the courses and tests necessary to get a license.  
 

My specialty for the team is working with the contract and developing negotiation strateties, both skill areas I honed working for the trade association, dealing with state, federal and foreign governments, and from my education and training as an attorney.  I also enjoy the research part of the business, part of my science background, evaluating local market conditions so that we can "stay ahead of the curve."  I've completed the courses to become an Accredited Buyer Representative^®, to help our buyer clients, and to become an Accredited Staging Professional^®, to help our seller clients.  I'm also a member of the International Association of Home Staging Professionals.
